You might have  seen Marisa Redondo’s work in our recent emails, or maybe you’ve seen her illustrations while combing through etsy.  She calls her series River Luna, and each piece is full of detail and imagination.

Marisa is a self taught artist from California. From the time she could hold a pencil, art has been a daily practice.  Marisa is currently living in Northern California, with her husband Ryan, 3 year old son River and their dog and kitten Dharma & Lhasa.

River provides much of the inspiration for the River Luna paintings.  They go on walks around the neighborhood or hikes at the lake nearby, together collecting leaves, stones and twigs. Once at their home, the two sort through them, and choose their favorites. The favorites go on Marisa’s painting desk.   Marisa told us, “Once he’s [River] down for the night, and the moon is out, so are my paints. I’ve always been a night owl, and most of my work is done once everyone in the house is sleeping. This is the reason for my shop name, River Luna (which is moon in spanish). It sort of sums up my daily life, trying to find balance between two distinct states, somewhere between the River and the moon.”
